On Feb 6, 2019, Epic Dragons had the most users over a 24-hour period of the over 1800 decentralized applications (dApp) tracked by DappRadar. This is the first time a dApp based on the Tron (TRX) blockchain reached the coveted first-place title.
As of 6:30 PM EST on Feb 8, Epic Dragons had maintained its dominance — with the top three most used dApps all based on the TRX blockchain. In late Nov 2018, the TRON Arcade was announced to fund games on the TRX blockchain for at least three years. Up to $100 million will allegedly be invested into this gaming ecosystem. Applications are currently being accepted by developers to receive access to these funds, distribution channels, professional advisers, and possible partnerships. Epic Dragons was accepted into the TRON Arcade on Jan 14, 2019. By the next day, it had the second-highest number of users for a gaming dApp within a 24-hour period. The game is developed and released by MixMarvel — which previously released a similar game using the Ethereum (ETH) network called HyperDragons.

Dragons vs. Dragons

HyperDragons is much older than Epic Dragons, but it has been unable to gain the same level of usage. According to DappRadar, HyperDragons was first played on July 4, 2018, with 53 users for the first 24 hour period. On Sep 27, 2019, the number of daily users reached 877. This is the highest period to date. On the other hand, Epic Dragons had only two users on Jan 5, 2019, the day it was first tracked on DappRadar. Within five days, the number was nearly 1.5 thousand. On both Feb. 6 and 7, 7.82 thousand users played the game. At 6:30 PM on Feb 8, the number was still over seven thousand. During the same three days period, HyperDragons never reached over 450 users. Beyond the Dragon

Six of the top ten most-used decentralized applications on DappRadar are built on the TRX blockchain. All are gambling or gaming dApps. The other top four positions are occupied by dApps built using EOS (EOS). PRA CandyBox and ENB Bank are the only ones developed for non-gambling and non-gaming purposes. TRON and EOS continue to dominate the listings with only four ETH-based dApps in top 50 of the most used. The rest are occupied by those deployed using the TRON or EOS blockchains. What do you think the future holds for dApps? Will Tron and EOS maintain user dominance over Ethereum? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!
