Alien Worlds is a popular NFT DeFi metaverse where players engage in economic competition and collaboration. Players compete to acquire the game’s native token, Trilium (TLM), which is used to access additional gameplay and gain control over competing Planet DAOs. This article breaks down everything you need to know about the TLM token, including its tokenomics, use cases, and more.

KEY TAKEAWAYS
➤ Alien Worlds is a blockchain-based metaverse where players mine, stake, and govern planets using NFTs.
➤ Trilium (TLM) is Alien Worlds’ native token, used for governance, staking, and in-game transactions.
➤ Players can acquire TLM through mining, staking, and purchasing it on exchanges like Binance and PancakeSwap.

What is Alien Worlds (TLM) token?

Alien Worlds is a blockchain-based game where players compete against one another to collect Trilium (TLM), a scarce resource in its simulated economy. Players use TLM to participate in Planet DAO governance, which determines how the game evolves over time.

➤ The Trilium token is also sometimes referred to as the Alien Worlds token.

Alien Worlds is a decentralized finance (DeFi) metaverse that runs on the WAX blockchain, which also integrates BNB Smart Chain (BSC) and Ethereum. The game deploys Trilium across all three blockchains, each offering distinct functionalities.

  • WAX handles transactions within the game’s core mechanics, allowing players to make fee-free transactions.
  • BNB Smart Chain supports staking missions, which are available to holders of BEP-20 TLM tokens and reward players who participate.
  • Ethereum helps manage the game’s assets and bridges its economy to a wider audience.

Players use a WAX Cloud Wallet to get started with Alien Worlds and can instantly begin mining TLM. Upon signing up, new players receive a tool that allows them to mine Trilium right away.

They can stake their mined Trilium on any of the six planets in the game. Additionally, players have the option to run for planetary counselor positions, where they help manage the governance system and influence in-game decisions.

Alien Worlds also features NFTs, which are compatible with both WAX and BSC blockchains. These NFTs help players enhance their in-game strategies and allow them to perform better in mining, battles, and staking missions.

Alien Worlds NFTs

NFTs are central to the player’s experience in Alien Worlds. Players can acquire NFTs as tools, land, or avatars that help them in various aspects of the game.

Each NFT has specific attributes that can improve mining yields, enhance staking rewards, or offer strategic advantages during battles in the game’s Thunderdome arena.

Each NFT card clearly lists its attributes to help players identify the best combinations for their gameplay.

Certain NFTs perform better on specific types of land, which allows players to achieve higher mining yields. Over time, players can upgrade these NFTs or use them in battle within the Thunderdome arena to fight for additional rewards.

Players can also use these NFTs beyond the core gameplay of Alien Worlds. For instance, you could integrate them into third-party applications like Minecraft.

The peer-to-peer IPFS system securely stores the NFTs and ensures they remain accessible for integration across various platforms.

In a nutshell:
➤ NFT Types: Tools, Land, and Avatars.
➤ Attributes: Each NFT has unique traits that players can upgrade over time to improve their in-game effectiveness.
➤ Integration: Alien Worlds NFTs are compatible with third-party applications and stored via the InterPlanetary File System (IPFS).

What is TLM?

Trilium (TLM) is the native token of the Alien Worlds metaverse. It operates as a fungible ERC-20 token with several important roles within the game. TLM is the currency players use to purchase and upgrade in-game items, participate in planetary governance, and stake for rewards.

  • Total supply: The maximum total supply of TLM is 10 billion tokens. However, due to the game’s declining inflation rate, only 5 billion tokens will likely ever be in circulation.

Mining Trilium on the right land with the right tools increases a player’s rewards. TLM is required for almost every major activity in the game, from mining to governance.

Use cases of the Alien Worlds token (TLM)

TLM has numerous use cases within the Alien Worlds metaverse:

  • Planetary governance: Stake TLM to vote on decisions that affect the governance of different planets.
  • Staking: Players can stake TLM to earn rewards and influence the development of their chosen planets.
  • In-game currency: Use TLM to purchase or upgrade NFTs, engage in quests, and participate in battles.
  • Rewards: Active players receive TLM incentives, helping grow the metaverse ecosystem.
  • Cross-chain transfers: Move TLM between BNB Smart Chain, Ethereum, and WAX blockchains for additional utility.

Mining and staking

Players mine Trilium (TLM) using tool NFTs, while land NFTs can help earn additional TLM. Mining is an important activity in Alien Worlds, and the game encourages players to find optimal combinations of tools and land to maximize their rewards.

Staking also plays a crucial role in the ecosystem. Players can stake their TLM on planets to increase their influence and receive daily TLM rewards in return. The more TLM staked, the greater the potential voting power.

Planet DAO voting

Players can influence the direction of planetary governance by staking TLM on Planet DAOs. The more TLM a player stakes, the more voting power they acquire, which then allows them to support policies or initiatives that align with their interests.

Players can even run for a position as a planetary counselor, where they will help manage the planet’s resources and oversee governance decisions.

Elected counselors hold multi-signature control over the Planet DAO accounts, ensuring a decentralized approach to planetary governance.

Alien Worlds Token (TLM) tokenomics

As of Oct. 23, 2024, the TLM token has a circulating supply of around 4.69 billion out of the total supply of 6.15 billion tokens (max supply = 10 billion tokens).

The tokenomics of TLM are designed to support the long-term sustainability of the game, with incentives for staking, mining, and player participation.

  • Initial supply: 5,135,726,585 TLM tokens were issued at the time of listing.
  • Staking and rewards: Players earn TLM by mining and staking in-game.
