“YouTube is at it again,” Tyler Winklevoss wrote on Twitter recently — criticizing the video platform for removing videos by Dr. Knut M. Wittkowski.
Dr. Wittkowski is an epidemiologist and a critic of the nation’s current coronavirus lockdown strategy. The former head of biostatistics, epidemiology and research design at Rockefeller University said his video racked up 1.3M views before being deleted from the platform. Tweeting his support for Dr. Wittkowski, Winklevoss writes that the developments were “disturbing” and that he was “starting to forget which country I live in.” The pandemic has the potential to shift public opinion towards decentralized alternatives to YouTube and social media. The popular platform has commonly come under fire for censoring content during the pandemic. As BeInCrypto previously reported, the platform has been known to censor content critical of the World Health Organization (WHO) and cryptocurrency, as well.
