In an interview with Peter McCormack, TRON (TRX) founder Justin Sun outright admitted that his cryptocurrency is a sh*tcoin. “Buy my sh*tcoin,” he says on video.
Justin Sun’s marketing seems to have reached a wall, and he is now outright calling his own cryptocurrency a sh*tcoin.
In a surreal interview with Peter McCormack, the founder of TRON (TRX) repeatedly calls TRON a “sh*tcoin” and implores users to buy it. The self-styled “Ethereum killer” is now trying to get publicity by disparaging its own project in a strange reversal of Sun’s usual marketing strategies. As McCormack asked Sun, “is TRON a valid coin or a sh*tcoin?” It’s a “sh*tcoin,” Sun says, and seems to imply that the entire idea that it’s superior to Ethereum is a joke.
The strange exchange was posted by Peter McCormack on Twitter earlier today.
Sun seems clearly intoxicated and in a joking mood, but it’s bad optics for TRON’s hypeman. Sun has been known for making ‘announcements of announcements’ for TRON and using any opportunity he can to shill the project. In fact, Sun even recently tried to ride the news on the coronavirus outbreak by relating it to TRON. He’s also used Kobe Bryant’s death to promote TRON as well. Sun responded to McCormack’s post with a simple reply. “Lol,” he writes, which was enough for TRON supporters to be relieved it was all in good fun, apparently. My exclusive interview with @justinsuntron is now available.

Hot tip for a Pulitzer. pic.twitter.com/TZaedkezOX
All being said, Sun calling TRON a ‘sh*tcoin’ on video is out of the character for him, even if it is a joke. Perhaps he feels like he can make such comments with impunity, given that the market is rising again. Although TRON is down -2.53% against Bitcoin (BTC) today, it is still up significantly since the start of the year. On January 1st, the asset was trading for $0.013, whereas it is currently $0.021927. It is currently the 13th largest cryptocurrency by market capitalization.Lol
