DeFi security company HashEx is announcing the launch of Forkchecker – a free tool designed to help developers and crypto enthusiasts quickly identify and analyze forks in BSC and Ethereum blockchains.

ForkChecker’s main objective is to analyze project forks. The company describes it as an ideal tool for various occasions, naming two in particular.

  • While evaluating a code of a fork, users can view the changes made to the original code.
  • While reviewing and comparing all dependencies, ForkChecker automates the process.

The tool automatically checks whether there’s been a backdoor added to the code.

Fork Checker takes the code provided in a .sol file or via the address and compares it to its database which includes OpenZeppelin and others. The feature shows the differences between the codes.

Considering that developers don’t always launch their projects on all networks, enthusiasts often attempt to either add a valuable project to a specific chain or add changes to the source code and make the project more niche. Forking a project is common practice in the industry. ForkChecker compares a project to a base of 30+ existing contracts.

Crypto enthusiasts can benefit from ForkChecker as well. When dealing with a fork, it’s crucial to remember that the errors and vulnerabilities from the original project can be transferred onto the fork. So prior to investing in a project, one can easily check if it’s been forked and whether or not the source project had any issues.

“We are excited to offer ForkChecker as a free resource to the blockchain community,” says Dmitry Mishunin, the CEO of HashEx. “Our goal is to provide developers and enthusiasts with an easy-to-use tool that will help them navigate the complex world of blockchain technology. ForkChecker is just the beginning of what we hope will be a long line of innovative security products and services.”
