Italian luxury fashion house Dolce & Gabbana wants to crown Elon Musk the ‘King of Crypto,’ with a catch.

The cryptocurrency world already dubbed Elon Musk as the ‘Dogefather’ after he made the meme-coin a household name via social media. Now, Dolce & Gabbana has an official crown for the ‘King of Crypto.’ Accepting the title, however, comes at a price for Musk.

The fashion house hinted that Musk should take part in their auction of a so-called ‘Doge Crown.’ The crown is part of the luxury brand’s first foray into the non-fungible token (NFT) world. It is currently available via live auction, and has a current bid of $495,676.

UNXD, the curated marketplace handling the auction, Tweeted out to Musk to purchase the crown. The D&G account responded by tweeting, “Legend has it that the special collector that owns The Doge Crown will thereafter be the anointed King of Crypto…” An insinuation that Musk can upgrade from the Dogefather, to the King of Crypto if he wears the crown.

D&G’s NFT collection

The Doge Crown is just one of nine unique pieces that make up the Collezione Genesi on UNXD’s marketplace. The collection, which took 16,000 hours to create, has already seen more than $1.5 million in bids. The collection includes physical copies of all the NFTs sold. The physical copies are “entirely hand-made, museum-grade items across Alta Moda (women), Alta Sartoria (men), and Alta Gioielleria (high jewelry).”

Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana designed the crown and inspired by the Piazza San Marco in Venice. Within the Piazza, resides the Doge’s Palace, locally known as the Palazzo Ducale. The palace has nothing to do with Doge as it was built in 1340. However, the name was convenient when looking for inspiration to create an NFT collection

The NFTs come as 4K rendered animations and stills and are accompanied by physical versions.
