CoinGecko launched ‘NFT Spotlight’ on their website. Sven Eberwein is the first artist to collaborate.
One of the longstanding issues in the art world has been bringing clients and sellers together with relative ease. Many often artists struggle to bridge the gap. ‘Spotlight’ is another step by the crypto industry to fill that gap with NFTs.
NFTs provide a new platform for artists
CoinGecko has announced the launch of an art-focused NFT named “Spotlight.” The crypto information site has long been a proponent of NFTs, hitting all-time highs in 2020 and even feature an “NFT of the Day” section on their site.
Non-fungible tokens have exploded due largely to their flexibility as digital assets and the expanding markets embracing them. This ability to explore creativity using these tokens has opened a new trend in the art world. Already we have seen many examples of this with artists like Beeple and Damien Hirst making NFT exclusive works.
Beeple, AKA Mike Winkelmann, is even setting art records thanks to NFTs. The US-based digital artist recently sold a piece entitled Everydays: the First 5000 Days for $69M in March. The sale was at the legendary Cristie’s Auction House and became the third-highest price paid for a work done by an artist who is still alive.
The attractiveness of NFT art is that it provides both artists and buyers access to each other that didn’t exist before. Previously unknown artists are seeing sales soar while amateur collectors grow their portfolios.
With a focus on a deeper understanding of each artist’s unique background, CoinGecko hopes to grow the voice and appreciation of each piece.
Teaming up with artist Sven Eberwein
CoinGecko couldn’t have come up with a better artist to help them launch their NFT than Sven Eberwein.
Eberwein has been at the forefront of art and NFTs for quite some time. He was the first artist to have his work presented on $MEME. His goal is to create a more sustainable world by reducing carbon emissions using offset credits.
The big-ticket NFT up for auction is a 1/1 piece by the artist and Tesla’s senior digital design modeler. All proceeds post fees, will be donated to charity.
The following pieces will be won via a lucky draw, or raffle, using CoinGecko candies as entry tokens.
The auction begins on April 19, 2020, at 10 PM EST, with the lucky draws being announced later. All proceeds will be used to cover transaction and minting fees and then the rest will be donated to Mint.af and groups in need outside the cryptosphere. This initiative will be carried out with the help of The Giving Block.
