Terraform co-founder Do Kwon is facing an extension of his detention in a Montenegro jail for an additional two months, amidst the ongoing dispute regarding the potential country to which he could be extradited.

“The court in Podgorica ruled that the term in custody, which would have expired on Friday, be prolonged by two months to Feb. 15,” the report stated.

Terraform Labs Do Kwon Faces Uncertainty Ahead

A recent report indicates that Montenegro’s High Court has prolonged the detention of Terraform Labs co-founder Do Kwon. Reportedly, by an additional two months, until February 15.

The High Court allegedly issued a ruling last month, asserting the possibility of extraditing Kwon. However, his legal team is currently disputing this proposition.

Kwon Could Be Extradited To Either US Or South Korea

Since March, authorities have held Kwon in detention in Montenegro.

Both US and South Korean prosecutors seek to bring him under their respective jurisdictions.

As per a recent report from sources familiar with the matter, justice officials intend to return Kwon to the US instead of South Korea to address criminal charges.

On December 6, BeInCrypto covered the news that Kwon filed an appeal against the High Court’s decision to extradite him:

“I do not accept the court’s decision to extradite me, so I do not submit to the court’s decision.”
