If recent reports are to be believed, British-American computer programmer and 2022 U.S. presidential candidate John McAfee has been captured at sea. This is seven months after going into exile after allegedly being indicted by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS).
According to a recent tweet made by John McAfee’s campaign manager, Rob Benedicto Pacifico Juan Maria Loggia-Ramirez (known as Loggiaonfire on Twitter) made via McAfee’s Twitter, there is good reason to believe the presidential ‘candidate’ has apparently been detained by unknown captors. Loggia-Ramirez claims that when he last spoke to McAfee, the programmer’s boat was being boarded by authorities who confiscated the phones of McAfee and his companions, including his wife Janice Dyson. A recent follow-up tweet re-clarifies that McAfee, his wife, and his crew are indeed safe and are in the process of being released from confinement. However, it neglects to mention exactly who was involved in their capture and whether the threat of leaking sensitive information was responsible for his release. Further information regarding the situation is expected to be made available tomorrow (July 25, 2019). This wait is leaving many disappointed since they were looking forward to seeing the “massive new leak to which select journalists and researchers will soon be given access.” This is not the first time John McAfee has reportedly been detained by authorities, nor is it the first time he has threatened to release sensitive information that would apparently cripple world governments. Because of this, several Twitter users claim this is no more than another publicity stunt. Simply looking back at his tweets over the last couple of weeks, McAfee has shamelessly self-promoted numerous times, shilled Docademic, Solve, MTC and Apollo, and attempted to smear multiple government agencies. He’s also quite involved in slandering Craig Wright, the self-proclaimed creator of Bitcoin, Satoshi Nakamoto. Because of this history, it is unclear whether McAfee is the boy who cried wolf since he has destroyed his own credibility on numerous occasions. What do you think about McAfee’s current situation? Is he genuinely being hunted by the U.S. government? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!
