One of the co-founders of the popular video sharing app Vine has a new project with NFTs and video games.

Dom Hofmann is one of the founders of the formerly popular video sharing app Vine. He also is the creator of the apps Peach and Byte, Vine’s successor. His new project however, is called Supdrive. According to the creator, it’s an “on-chain fantasy game console”.

Hofmann created a Discord chat specifically for the game, in which he answered questions regarding the new release.

This game is one of a kind, as it utilizes NFTs, which will run on a virtual firmware. Given that the games will be released as NFTs, the copies available will be limited. The owners of the NFT games will each have their own color scheme, difficulty settings, and other unique features.

Supdrive will be community driven. This means those involved with the console and NFTs will be the ones developing the games. However, Hofmann created the first game for the console, called “Origin”. At the moment the games are in the “old-school arcade style”.

Meanwhile, the console has a meta game  inspired by Pokemon, said Hofmann. Users split into red, green, and blue teams. The team one is on could influence the game that the user plays – or at least that’ the intent in the future.

At the moment, the project is still in the developmental stages. Though, Hofmann projects for a release date sometime in October. He plans for community updates “every week or so”.

NFT use cases pile up

As the NFT movement continues its spike in popularity, more innovative and unseen use cases appear on the market.

Already, use cases take various different forms. Most commonly, NFTs are in the form of unique collector’s edition digital art pieces. However, other use cases for NFTs include real estate contracts, music industry royalty services, and more.

Recently, the space added more big names to the NFT pioneers. BMW launched their first series of NFTs based on iconic models of their vehicles. Football superstar Lionel Messi plans his first set of NFTs for release this month.

Gaming is a huge pathway for outsiders to interact with the decentralized space. As the NFT niche continues its expansion, games like Supdrive will be one of many.
