AI tools are increasingly embedded in human activities. An AI Agent is a program capable of executing complex, specialized tasks on behalf of a human.

In their early stages, AI Agents are functioning much like AI Bots within the crypto market. However, experts foresee a future where these agents will be capable of much more.

“Terminal of Truths” Sparks Interest in AI Agents

The development of large language models (LLMs) laid the groundwork for Andy Ayrey’s creation of “Terminal of Truths.” However, this AI account currently cannot independently control its own crypto wallet; it is limited to content generation.

James Ross, the founder of Mode Network, suggests that in the future, AI Agents may be able to execute blockchain transactions autonomously. He predicts that the number of transactions performed by AI Agents will rise significantly in the near term.

“Updating my AI x Crypto thesis. Original thesis: Over 80% of all blockchain tx will be done by AI agents in the next 24 months. New thesis: Over 80% of all blockchain tx will be done by AI agents in the next 6-12 months,” Ross declared.

A recent report from Crypto.com explains that for an AI Agent to fulfill a human request in the web3 space, it requires permission from multiple parties (potentially through APIs). This implies that traditionally experience-demanding tasks like trading, staking, token creation, NFT generation, promotion, and feedback could be automated by AI Agents.

However, after observing how the AI account “Terminal of Truths” influences GOAT token prices, investor Edgy takes a more cautious stance on AI Agents.

“Truth Terminal has 100,000+ followers and it keeps growing. The account has insane reach for each tweet. It tweets every hour – it’s a KOL that doesn’t sleep… There’s going to be a ton of scams trying to ride this wave,” Edgy commented.

Some other experts, like Qw from Messari and Helius Labs’ CEO Mert, are less enthusiastic about the concept of AI Agents.

“The rebranding of “bots” to “AI agents” is an incredible crypto special almost as good as “prediction markets” instead of “betting,” Mert said.

Data from Messari indicates that the emerging AI Agent sector attracted $79.5 million in investment over the last quarter. Messari also reports that VCs invested over $213 million in AI-related projects during the same period, a 340% increase year-over-year and 2.5 times higher than Q2.

Furthermore, experts project that the market size for AI Agents could reach $47.1 billion by 2030. Additionally, Anthropic recently introduced an upgraded version of the Claude 3.5 Sonnet AI model, featuring a new capability that allows the AI to interact with and control computer applications. This advancement could further propel AI Agent development in the future.
