TRON’s Addition to Samsung Keystore is Just Another Case of Justin Sun Mega-Hype

Justin Sun, who has gained a reputation for making overhyped announcements for his Tron blockchain, recently took to Twitter to express his excitement at a “hundred billion USD megacorporation” deal. This week, it has emerged that the enthusiasm may again have been exaggerated.
The latest release of the Samsung Blockchain Keystore SDK, v1.2.0, now includes APIs that support TRX transactions. It means that there is potential for tokens conforming to the TRC10 or 20 standards as well as Tron-based dApps, being accessible to those using the Blockchain Keystore; indeed, a significant advancement considering there are over 1 billion Samsung smartphone users. However, even with this potential being noted on Twitter, there was also a backlash at the way in which Sun positioned and hyped up this integration.

Tron Partnerships Have Been Embellished

Previously, Sun has been called out for embellishing advancements with TRON and the TRX token, which has led to spikes in price, and consequential dips afterward. After the Samsung tweet was made, TRX jumped 19 percent, but this was also paired with a surge in the broader cryptocurrency market. Last year, Sun tweeted a teaser about another partnership, which turned out to be with Baidu, Inc., a Chinese multinational technology company specializing in Internet-related services and products. However, the partnership appeared to actually be focused on the purchase and use of Baidu’s basic cloud computing resources, and there were claims that the two parties made no connections ‘at the blockchain business level.’ This led to a sharp backlash from others on Twitter. Sun has even had to come forward and admit that his tendencies to overhype things sometimes get the better of him; this followed after the much-talked-about multi-million dollar lunch with Warren Buffet. Sun wrote in a letter on Weibo:
“My intention of having lunch with Buffett was because of my admiration for him and my enthusiasm for charity. It was simple, but also with self-interest to promote the blockchain industry and my project. But my immature, naive, and impulsive conduct with my big mouth has turned it into an out-of-control and failed over-marketing hype and led to a significant series of unexpected consequences,”

Wrong Marketing Ploy

While the addition of TRON to the Keystore can be heralded as a big move for the blockchain company, it is hard to call this a partnership in the traditional sense. It is rather an integration, and Sun is not doing himself any favors by continuing on these elaborate announcements, which lead many commentators to be skeptical of them regardless of their content.
