About

André Portilho is Partner and Head of Digital Assets at BTG Pactual, Latin America's largest investment bank, where he leads all of the bank's crypto and blockchain initiatives. A trader by background with roughly 30 years in financial markets, he built BTG's Digital Assets area in 2020 and was instrumental in launching Mynt, the bank's crypto trading platform, in 2022. He is a leading institutional voice on stablecoins, tokenization, and digital assets in Brazil, having driven products such as the BTG Dol stablecoin and spoken on mass crypto adoption at events like Blockchain.Rio. Portilho spent most of his career at Pactual/BTG. He began in 1993 as an intern at Banco Icatu in Rio de Janeiro, moving to the proprietary trading desk to trade equity and equity options. In 2000 he joined Banco Pactual to build its Equity Derivatives trading desk, later creating the FX Derivatives desk; after UBS acquired the bank, he oversaw Latin America equity and FX derivatives trading across Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, and Stamford. In 2007 he left to join newly formed hedge fund Paineiras Investimentos as trader and partner, returning to BTG Pactual in 2011 to run its Volatility desk. He became a partner in 2014, began trading Bitcoin in 2017, and has led the Digital Assets business since 2020. A carioca and lifelong endurance athlete, he has completed 10 marathons and two Ironman races.
