Chinese cryptocurrency entrepreneur and founder of Tron, Justin Sun, has postponed his much-publicized lunch with Warren Buffett. He bid $4.57M for the lunch at a charity auction last month.
It seems that Justin Sun won’t be meeting with Warren Buffett on July 25th after all. The TRON founder claims that he has kidney stones and cannot attend. The dinner will be rescheduled.

Rescheduled Over Supposed Health issue

“I was in the hospital due to kidney stones and had to cancel the lunch with Mr. Buffett … The donation to the Glide Foundation has been completed and is still valid,” Sun wrote on Tuesday morning. The Tron Foundation has said that the rescheduled dinner has already been agreed to. The 20th-anniversary charity lunch was to be the day after tomorrow with 7 guests. The place of the event was to be Smith & Wollensky steakhouse in midtown Manhattan. Sun has been vocal of his intention to bring other leaders in the blockchain space with him, however, these plans have now been put on hold. Some the guests which were expected to attend include Charlie Lee, the creator of Litecoin; Yoni Assia, the founder of eToro; and Jeremy Allair, the co-founder of Circle.

Claims of Fraud

However, there have been some other theories floating around online as to why Justin Sun rescheduled. The 21st Century Business Herland is claiming in a new article that Sun is being kept in China due to accusations of ‘illegal fundraising.’ It is alleged that the Tron network has been operating illegal gambling services. There are also accusations that Sun’s startup, Peiwo, is being used to disseminate illegal pornography. Sources confirm that, as of now, Sun is in mainland China but his exact whereabouts are still unknown. Sun has denied all allegations made by the 21st Century Business Herland via his Weibo account. “The illegal fundraise accusation is wrong. Tron complied with regulators and refunded investors on Sept. 20 in 2017, immediately after the order [of a ban on initial coin offerings] from seven ministries in China,” Sun writes. As of now, there are no pending criminal proceedings against Sun. The date for the Buffett lunch has yet to be announced.
