Have you ever thought about participating in traditional financial markets? For many users, interacting with stocks, ETFs, and other assets feels complicated and overwhelming. Opening a brokerage account, struggling with complex platforms, and facing restrictions often stops new investors from even getting started.

But what if tokenized shares of companies like Apple or Tesla could be swapped in just one click — right inside your crypto wallet? Trust Wallet, a leading self-custodial wallet with over 200 million downloads, is the first wallet to unlock access to tokenized RWAs.

In this overview, we’ll explore what tokenized RWAs are, how Trust Wallet integrates this feature, and the key benefits it brings to users and the broader financial ecosystem.

What Are Tokenized Real World Assets (RWA)?

Tokenized Real World Assets (RWAs) are tokenized representations of physical and traditional financial assets that are deployed on blockchain, for example stocks, bonds, ETFs, cash (stablecoins are a perfect example), or tangible assets like real estate, commodities, precious metals, and others.

Blockchain technology enables the tokenization of these assets, with each token representing either a fraction or the full value of the underlying asset. This also makes RWAs more liquid and easily accessible to a wider range of users, especially those who may face restrictions from intermediary platforms or geographic limitations in traditional financial markets.

Trust Wallet Brings RWA Onchain

Trust Wallet breaks down the barriers between traditional and decentralized finance, making access to real-world assets easier for everyday users. These assets were mostly seen as opportunities for large or institutional investors. Now, any eligible user can swap stablecoins for tokenized RWAs directly in the wallet app — with no intermediaries, no registration or document procedures, and no need to use complex financial tools.

“Integrating RWAs into self-custodial wallets is an important step in making global finance more open and efficient. The bigger picture is how blockchain democratizes access to financial markets and lays the foundation for a more inclusive future of finance,” said Trust Wallet CEO, Eowyn Chen.

Key Advantages of RWA Support in Trust Wallet

  • Self-custody and no intermediaries: As a non-custodial wallet, Trust Wallet gives users full control over their crypto, including tokenized RWAs. Users are the only ones with access, and there’s no need to share personal information or complete KYC verification – everything stays anonymous and secure.
  • Simple and intuitive interface: Swapping tokenized RWAs is easy and requires no technical knowledge. Users can simply go to the Swap tab and choose the tokenized RWA to trade in just a few clicks.
  • All-in-one platform: Trust Wallet allows users to send, receive, and store crypto, participate in yield opportunities, interact with dApps, and swap stablecoins to tokenized RWAs, all within a single wallet.

How Does It Work?

The tokenized RWA swap feature in Trust Wallet is powered by leading blockchain protocols Ondo Finance and 1inch Swap API. Ondo Finance tokenizes real-world assets using its smart contracts and is one of the largest and most trusted projects in the tokenized asset industry, collaborating with major institutional investment firms.

1inch Swap API is integrated into Trust Wallet, providing one of the most secure and fastest token swapping processes with access to unlimited liquidity from the entire crypto market.

What You Should Know Before Getting Started with RWAs in Trust Wallet

This feature is available in the regular Swap tab and, in essence, works just like swapping other tokens, making the process familiar and straightforward for users. One of the main goals of this feature is education, allowing users to explore on-chain access to asset-linked value while bridging the gap between traditional markets and DeFi. These tokenized assets do not represent direct ownership and are not shares or equity instruments.

Currently, tokenized RWAs are available on the Ethereum network, with swaps conducted using the stablecoin USDC. BNB Chain & Solana support is coming soon. Available assets include the tokenized versions of major U.S. stocks, like:

  • $AAPL
  • $AMZN
  • $TSLA

The token names may differ from their original assets. For example, Tesla (TSLA) might appear as TSLAxx, where “xx” indicates the provider or protocol issuing the RWA token. RWA swaps in Trust Wallet are available only in certain regions, so users in the US, UK, and EU cannot access this functionality within the app.

How to Swap Tokenized RWAs in Trust Wallet

  1. Download Trust Wallet and either create a new wallet or import an existing one.
  2. Open the app and go to the ‘Swap’ tab on the main screen.
  3. Select the asset you want to swap from and to, for example, from USDC to AAPLon on the Ethereum chain.
  4. Enter the amount of USDC you want to swap and tap the ‘Continue’ button.
  5. Review the swap details and tap the ‘Confirm Swap’ button. After the swap is completed, your tokenized RWA will appear in your wallet.

Note: Access to swap RWA assets follows standard U.S. market hours: 9:30 AM to 4:00 PM EST, Monday to Friday.

Final Thoughts: Trust Wallet Makes Web3 Accessible for Everyone

Trust Wallet is the first major self-custodial wallet to support tokenized stocks and ETFs, giving users global access to these assets to users in the locations where  traditional brokerage platforms might be unavailable. All that’s needed is a smartphone and internet connection.

By example, Trust Wallet shows that a non-custodial wallet can be a key element in driving global adoption of decentralized finance. With over 200 million downloads, it is steadily moving in that direction. Today, Trust Wallet is one of the most inclusive apps for interacting with the Web3 ecosystem, supporting millions of crypto assets across hundreds of blockchains (including tokenized RWAs) and decentralized applications, all while maintaining full self-custody.
