The Weeknd has found an ally in the cryptoverse. Binance has recently declared that it is the official sponsor of The Weeknd’s new tour.

Called “After Hours Til Dawn,” the tour will be the first global concert tour to integrate Web 3.0 technology. This will lead to an enhanced fan experience, according to a press release.

Binance will collaborate with The Weeknd to release an exclusive NFT collection for the tour. Virtual tickets will give access to the commemorative NFTs.

The Weeknd: Backstory

Born and raised in Toronto, The Weeknd’s real name is Abel Makkonen Tesfaye. He made his big break in 2009 by anonymously releasing music on YouTube. A couple of years later, he co-founded the XO record label. He then released some albums in the alternative R&B genre. After that, he signed with Republic Records, with his debut studio album Kiss Land (2013) debuted at number two on the US Billboard 200.

Binance Collaboration

Said The Weeknd, “Binance is all about the community, about people, about inclusion. I was impressed by their focus on users and innovative edge. It made perfect sense to work together and I can’t wait for fans to experience crypto within a creative avenue while supporting a good cause. There are so many possibilities with crypto and I think this is just the beginning.”

Yi He is the Binance Co-Founder. “We are excited to be an exclusive crypto partner of The Weeknd’s tour, giving fans and people the ability to interact with crypto in a new avenue. Crypto is community-centric and we believe this partnership embodies that, including empowering local artists and giving back, through a mainstream platform.”

The Weeknd is a United Nations World Food Programme Global Goodwill Ambassador. He launched the XO Humanitarian Fund to relieve hunger in hotspots around the globe. Binance will donate $2 million to the fund. Plus an NFT collab between the artist and Binance will give 5% of sales to the fund.

The Weeknd’s tour will begin July 8.
