Stablecoin

Stablecoins are cryptocurrencies that are designed to have minimal volatility.

Their value is often pegged to that of a currency.

Stablecoins backed by the dollar were the first to emerge or the market and are the most common type of stablecoins.

The most used are Tether (USDT), TrueUSD (TUSD) and USDCoin (USDC).

Their value is pegged to the US dollar in a fixed ratio.

Additionally, there is a less popular version of stablecoins, Seigniorage-style coins.  Similar to how a central bank prints money, they control the money supply by utilizing algorithms.
