Solana has released a performance report highlighting the network uptime and other metrics that display the strength of the network.

The Layer 1 protocol Solana has often faced heavy criticism for frequent outages. Finally, the network has released a performance report highlighting the achievements in 2023.

Solana Performance Report Highlights Almost 100% Uptime

In 2022, the Solana network suffered from outages around eight times. However, the first half of 2023 has been relatively smoother.

In a performance report, the Solana Foundation highlighted that the network faced only one outage in the first half of 2023 and zero outages in the second quarter. The only outage was on around February 25, when Solana had a technical issue. Due to that, users could not process the transactions for around 24 hours.

The screenshot below from the Solana performance report shows that the Solana network maintained 100% uptime in all the months of 2023 so far, except for February.

The Solana performance report also discusses metrics such as Average Time to Produce a Block. The screenshot below shows that the average time to produce a block has decreased. The only exception is during February when the network was temporarily down.

It roughly indicates that the transaction speed is increasing because new blocks are being created in lesser time.

Regulatory Challenges

If these metrics are considered, Solana has indeed strengthened the blockchain. But on the other hand, the ecosystem is surrounded by regulatory challenges.

Notably, the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) named Solana’s native token, SOL, as a security. This crackdown led to platforms like Revolut and Robinhood delisting SOL.

In the past 24 hours, the price of SOL is down by around 6.72%. But in the past 30 days, the token has rallied by more than 50%.
