About Gracy Chen

Gracy Chen is the CEO of Bitget a global cryptocurrency exchange headquartered in Seychelles. Since its founding in 2018, Bitget has become a key player in the crypto industry, offering services like spot trading, futures trading, and copy trading. Committed to security and innovation, Bitget aims to make digital assets accessible to a broad audience while expanding into emerging markets worldwide.

Early Life

Gracy Chen was raised by a single mother who, like many traditional Asian parents, hoped for her daughter to grow up happily without overly ambitious expectations, envisioning a future focused on finding a life partner. However, from a young age, Gracy was drawn to leadership. Even in primary school, she eagerly sought opportunities to step into leadership roles. For Gracy, leading wasn’t about controlling others—it was about creating value, embracing responsibility, and driving meaningful change. This early passion for leadership laid the foundation for her future journey in the tech and crypto industries.

Education

Gracy Chen earned a scholarship at the age of 18 to study Applied Mathematics in Singapore. Her love for continuous learning and personal growth later led her to pursue an MBA at MIT, where she further honed her knowledge and skills. This academic foundation has played a crucial role in shaping her career in the tech and finance sectors.

Professional Journey

Gracy Chen began her professional career as a TV host for a finance and technology show at Phoenix TV, one of China’s largest media conglomerates. During her time there, she interviewed influential tech leaders, including Kevin Kelly, the founding editor of Wired. It was in 2015, through conversations with industry professionals, that she was introduced to the world of cryptocurrency. This exposure, combined with her deep interest in tech and finance, set her on the path to becoming a significant figure in the blockchain and crypto space.

Beginning of the Crypto Journey

After leaving her career in television, Gracy Chen co-founded and led two startups in fintech and virtual reality. Embracing the ups and downs of entrepreneurship, she often refers to herself as a “serial entrepreneur” who learned valuable lessons from her ventures. Her passion for continuous learning drove her to pursue an MBA at MIT, further deepening her knowledge in business and technology.

In the spring of that year, Gracy was informed by a friend that Bitget was recruiting for a Managing Director. Having previously invested in Bitkeep, she was already familiar with the Bitget team. The decision to join a cryptocurrency exchange was significant, but after engaging in in-depth conversations with each member of the management team, she was impressed by their competence, motivation, and ethical standards. Inspired by their sincerity and vision, despite the competition from more established exchanges, she decided to join Bitget.

Gracy took on the role of Managing Director at Bitget, where she played a key role in driving global strategy and partnerships. Her extensive experience in finance and technology has been instrumental in her progression to CEO, where she continues to lead Bitget’s growth and innovation in the cryptocurrency space.

Vision and Philosophy

Gracy Chen has always been driven by a desire to challenge conventions and forge her own path. While she doesn’t consider herself a “rebel,” she is more interested in creating her own rules than following ingrained ones. This mindset led her to explore the cutting edge of innovation in the crypto space. Recognizing the potential early on, Gracy invested in major cryptocurrencies like BTC, ETH, and XRP. She also supported and invested in promising crypto startups, including BitKeep, which later became Bitget Wallet. Her vision is rooted in embracing opportunities at the forefront of technology, empowering others to do the same, and driving change through leadership and investment in forward-thinking solutions.

Contributions to the crypto industry

Gracy Chen has made significant contributions to the crypto industry through her leadership and advocacy for women in technology. As CEO of Bitget, she has spearheaded initiatives to expand the platform’s global reach and enhance its crypto offerings. Gracy has also been instrumental in fostering partnerships with key industry players, helping to bridge the gap between traditional finance and digital assets. Her work with Blockchain4Her has empowered women to enter and thrive in the crypto and AI sectors, promoting diversity and inclusion within the tech industry. Gracy’s efforts reflect her commitment to driving innovation and collaboration, making her a pivotal figure in the ongoing evolution of the crypto landscape.
