Vice President Kamala Harris is probing the crypto industry with a series of questions.

This move hints at her administration’s potential openness to crypto and emerging technologies.

Vice President’s Crypto Queries Spark Speculation on Future Policies

Politico reported that billionaire Mark Cuban received ‘multiple questions’ about crypto from Harris’ campaign, which he interpreted as a positive sign. Cuban added that feedback suggests Harris might be more open to business, artificial intelligence, crypto, and government as a service. However, Harris herself has yet to confirm this.

David Bailey, CEO of Bitcoin Magazine, corroborated Cuban’s statement by revealing his team is in discussions with Harris’ campaign about her speaking at the Bitcoin Conference 2024. Bailey emphasized the strategic advantage of Harris addressing the conference.

“Would be very savvy of her to reset the democrat positioning on the fastest growing voter block in the country. They’re making up their minds today,” Bailey wrote on his X.

However, some within the crypto community remain skeptical. Tyler Winklevoss, co-founder of Gemini, expressed doubts, suggesting substantial policy changes would be necessary to win over the crypto community.

“Talk is cheap. She would need to start by immediately firing Gary Gensler, withdrawing all the [US Securities and Exchange Commission] SEC enforcement actions against good actors, and ending Operation Chokepoint 2.0. She won’t do this, so she won’t stand a chance of winning back the crypto voting block. Time for change,” Winklevoss commented.

Tom Kysar from Gas.zip echoed this skepticism, pointing out the administration’s historical opposition to the crypto sector. He criticized the potential move as an attempt to gain support without addressing past grievances, labeling it “disingenuous.”

BeInCrypto reported earlier that Kamala Harris has garnered the support needed to secure the Democratic Party’s nomination for the 2024 election. This comes after President Joe Biden’s withdrawal from the race, which has sparked rumors about his health due to his absence from the public eye and a positive COVID-19 diagnosis.
