Harry Mason Jr., Recording Academy CEO, acknowledged the need to address the implications of AI in music. Subsequently, he expressed admiration for Ghostwriter’s work. Mason confirmed the track’s eligibility for the Grammy.
“It’s absolutely eligible because it was written by a human,” said Mason.
Ghostwriter’s latest offering, “Whiplash,” uses AI vocal filters to mimic rappers Travis Scott and 21 Savage. Then, in a bold move, they released it on social media platforms, bypassing traditional streaming services. Alongside this, the track was accompanied by an invitation for collaboration, with the intention of showcasing the potential of AI voice filters.

“Heart on My Sleeve” has been nominated for Best Rap Song and Song of the Year at the Grammy Awards. Consequently, the Academy will have to consider the song’s commercial availability as per Grammy rules.
