Twitter is finally returning to macOS with a new Catalyst version of its application, which can be downloaded from the App Store.
Several days earlier, macOS Catalina was originally released to the public. As such, it allowed developers to easily connect their iPad apps with their Macs, and a lot of apps rushed to take advantage of this opportunity. Twitter was originally not among them, as the platform missed Catalina’s launch day. However, it still managed to join up, and can now be downloaded from Mac’s App Store. Twitter Mac Twitter’s return to Mac was a popular topic ever since details regarding Catalyst were revealed earlier this year. Now, the Catalyst version of the popular social network finally made an appearance, and it looks very similar to its iPad application. The interface is almost the same, although there are a few minor changes that have allowed Twitter to adapt and function better on Mac. Fortunately, the app also comes with support for the Dark Mode, which is likely to be appreciated by a lot of users. Twitter will switch between the two modes automatically, based on the settings of the users’ Mac devices. Of course, this is not the first time that Twitter has introduced a dedicated app for the Mac system. In fact, it had one for years, although it stopped providing support for it back in 2018. Back then, it simply instructed its users to use the web version, instead. The company seemingly did it as a result of difficulties when it comes to supporting the Mac app. Twitter Mac However, earlier in 2019, Twitter released a blog post announcing that Mac Catalyst will allow it to re-introduce its desktop app, which will be easier to support and maintain thanks to the new changes. The post stated that the app would use the existing iOS codebase. As mentioned, Twitter for Mac is currently available in the Mac App Store, and it can be downloaded for free. Apple also recently started selling Microsoft Xbox controllers via its store, as BeInCrypto has reported. Were you a user of Twitter’s Mac app? Are you excited about its return to the Mac system?
