Employees at Square have been offered an indefinite extension of the company’s work-from-home policy that has been put into place as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to an announcement made by the company, Square employees will be able to ‘work where they feel most creative and productive.’ [The Verge] A similar announcement was made for Twitter employees last week by CEO Jack Dorsey. The new policy is a sign that many companies may be realizing that work-from-home policies could become the ‘new normal’ even after COVID-19 passes. Other tech companies seem to be following Square’s lead. Google has asked its employees to return to in-person work by Dec 31 instead of July, as per its original strategy. [The Observer] Microsoft has extended its work-from-home policy until October 2020. [Business Insider] Square has close ties to the cryptocurrency space. It was recently announced that the platform would be allowing automatic and recurring Bitcoin purchases.
