About

He is a former Member of the European Parliament from the Czech Republic. During his tenure in the Parliament, he served on the Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs, where he chaired the Working Group on Access to Finance for Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises (SMEs). His legislative work in the committee focused on digital finance, and he was instrumental in drafting and negotiating the EU’s Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) Regulation. He also led work on the revision of the Payment Services legislation and was actively engaged in the development of the Open Finance legislative proposal. In addition to his work in the Economic and Monetary Affairs Committee, he also served as a member of the European Parliament’s Committee on Transport and Tourism. His activities ranged from SME financing, transport, and tourism policy to border management, research, and the practical use of new technologies — particularly those based on artificial intelligence — as well as promoting broader access to and use of digital finance for businesses and consumers.
