The NFL star becomes the most recent big name in the sports world to team up with FTX via new crypto deal.Â
Green Bay Packers star Aaron Jones has signed a deal with leading cryptocurrency exchange FTX, per ESPNâs Adam Schefter. The deal makes Jones the latest in a group of athletes signing cryptocurrency deals. This is a group that is growing fast.Â
In a tweet, Schefter confirmed the deal with Jones. In addition, he said Jones also purchased an equity stake in the company. The long-term partnership with FTX will also pay Jones in cryptocurrency for his services as a brand ambassador.Â
Jonesâ Commitment to Crypto
âI plan to invest a portion of my future marketing earnings in cryptocurrency and other blockchain-related assets through the FTX US exchange,â Jones said in a press release.
The former University of Texas standout highlighted his excitement. âMy brother and I are excited to become shareholders in FTX through Showtyme Ventures, LLC â my familyâs investing vehicle dedicated to investing in legendary entrepreneurs who are unapologetically changing the world, putting as equal an emphasis on making an impact as they do shareholder returns.â
The investment in FTX will be Showtyme Venturesâ first.Â
In addition, Jonesâ charity, A&A All the way, will incorporate FTX Pay into their website. This allows for donations via digital currencies alongside fiat. The brothersâ created the foundation to âmake an impact in the lives of our nationâs youth.â
President of FTX US, Brett Harrison, commented on the deal. âWhen we first met with Aaron, it was clear that he shared the same values FTX has been founded on â to leave a lasting positive impact on the world,â Harrison said. âFTX is thrilled to have Aaron join our team to assist us in bringing the world of crypto further into mainstream acceptance and adoption.â
FTX has become home to several high-profile athletes in recent months including Steph Curry and Tom Brady. Both athletes signed long-term ambassador deals that included charitable donations and purchased equity in the company. Bradyâs wife Giselle BĂŒndchen joined her husband in signing with the exchange, becoming FTXâs new Environmental and Social Initiatives Advisor.
