Direct to consumer platform and fan token app Socios has announced its newest professional sports collaboration with more to come this week.

The Houston Rockets today released a statement announcing a new partnership with the Socios.com platform. The app allows fans to invest in the teams they love via non-fungible tokens (NFTs) or fan tokens. Now, fans of the Houston Rockets can use blockchain technology to dive deeper into the team they love than ever before.

While the specifics of the deal with Houston have not been announced, the idea of Socios.com is to allow for team backers to interact with and even help finance the teams they love. The Socios.com brand will also be included in the signage at the Toyota Center in Houston, and will also be present on the team’s social media accounts. Socios.com will also serve as the presenting partner of Rockets Fan Art Friday.

According to Rockets President of Business Operation Gretchen Sheirr, “Creating innovative engagement options for our global fan base is a priority for the Rockets. Socios.com’s unique approaches are exciting for sports fans around the world.”

Alexandre Dreyfus, CEO of Socios.com and Chiliz also commented on the collaboration. “Another massive global sporting brand has joined the Socios.com roster. The Rockets are committed to creating amazing engagement opportunities for their fans around the world and we’re really excited by the big potential this partnership offers.”

Socios.com gaining a foothold in the US market

The Rockets announcement comes after the Los Angeles Clippers, Sacramento Kings and Orlando Magic also said they had signed a deal with Socios.com. The NBA signings are just the latest partnerships with professional sports franchises in the United States that Socios.com has signed. Socios has announced it will unveil a new NBA partnership each day this week with the Rockets next up.

The platform started out as one that was primarily focused on international football fans but has been expanding into the US with collaborations in the NBA, NHL, NASCAR, and others.

The Clippers deal is a multi-year collaboration that will see Socios.com’s brand incorporated into Clipper’s social media along with mobile platforms. “

Dreyfus was quoted saying, “I’m delighted the LA Clippers have become the latest major U.S. team to join our rapidly expanding network. This is yet another step forward in a very exciting period of unprecedented growth in the U.S. for our business.”

Along with the 50 or so international soccer teams, the platform has deals with the UFC, New Jersey Devils, Philadelphia 76ers, NASCAR’s Roush Fenway Racing Team, and others.
