The Ethereum Foundation announced today that Devcon 8, Ethereum’s global community and developer conference, will take place in Mumbai, India, in Q4 2026.
Devcon is the annual gathering for the global Ethereum community, for developers, researchers, community contributors, and builders. Unlike typical crypto conferences, much of Devcon’s programming and spaces are created and led by the community, reflecting Ethereum’s bottom-up culture and focus on collaboration.
SponsoredIndia was selected as the next host location based on the scale and rapid growth of its developer ecosystem, rising local adoption, and strong grassroots Ethereum communities. India now has over 17 million developers on GitHub and has been the largest source of new crypto developers since 2023, with many building on Ethereum and its scaling ecosystems. The country also leads global crypto adoption for the second consecutive year and has seen significant growth in Ethereum-focused activity across universities, meetups, hackathons, and local organizations.
“India has one of the world’s largest pools of technical talent, and its Ethereum communities have grown rapidly in recent years,” said Nathan Sexer, Devcon Team Lead. “Hosting Devcon 8 in Mumbai strengthens this momentum and lowers the barrier for new builders in the region to connect with contributors from around the world.”
Mumbai is a major global city with a deep technology base and provides strong accessibility for attendees across India and Asia, and supports Devcon’s focus on reaching emerging and fast-growing communities.
More details on speaker applications, community involvement, and ticketing will be shared in the coming months at devcon.org.
