Chirp, a decentralized telecommunications network operating on the Sui blockchain, unveiled its play-to-earn (P2E) game, Kage.

Advertised as the first-ever DePIN (Decentralized Physical Infrastructure Network) P2E game, Kage meets players where entertainment, rewards, and real-world utility intersect.

Chirp Turns Smartphones Into Crypto Miners

With Kage, Chirp invites players to explore their surroundings by detecting wireless networks such as WiFi, Bluetooth, and cellular towers using their smartphones. This activity engages players in a gamified experience while rewarding them with CHIRP tokens, the native cryptocurrency for the Chirp ecosystem.

Players will earn CHIRP as soon as they start playing the game and will be able to claim them after the upcoming token generation event (TGE).

“It’s not just about earning CHIRP tokens; you’re participating in building the technology of the future. Your gaming experience helps expand Chirp’s IoT ecosystem, collecting data to create innovative geolocation solutions for everyday life and business,” one X user said.

Based on the gameplay’s mechanics, the number of signals detected is directly proportional to the Data Chips accumulated. This positions them higher on the leaderboard and maximizes their CHIRP rewards.

As an added incentive, Kage features a “Pokémon Go”-style treasure hunt campaign called Wings of Chronos. With this campaign, players can search for Bluetooth-enabled physical items and NFTs, unlocking exclusive benefits and rewards.

Unlike traditional P2E games, Kage has a broader purpose. By participating, players contribute to Chirp’s geolocation database, which underpins its IoT (Internet of Things) ecosystem. This database offers vital solutions for industries needing low-power geopositioning and indoor navigation — areas where GPS struggles. Applications span logistics, urban planning, and retail sectors.

“Kage isn’t just a game — it’s a creative way for Chirp to strengthen our community-powered IoT network, and we couldn’t think of a better home for this next-generation game than Sui — the fastest and most secure blockchain in the entire web3 space. We have ambitious plans at Chirp, and both Sui and Kage are a major part of this,” Tim Kravchunovsky, CEO and founder of Chirp, told BeInCrypto.

Integration with Chirp’s Expanding Ecosystem

Kage integrates seamlessly into Chirp’s decentralized telecommunications ecosystem, which is known for providing novel IoT connectivity and data solutions. It builds on the momentum from Chirp’s 2nd-anniversary announcement in October when the company first teased its vision of a P2E gaming future.

Four months earlier, Chirp hinted at its transformative potential during an airdrop campaign, allowing users to secure tokens ahead of the official launch. This campaign generated buzz, strengthening Chirp’s community and preparing its ecosystem for the game’s debut.

Android users will be the first to experience Kage by registering on the Chirp platform and linking their Sui wallets. As CHIRP becomes central to Chirp’s operations, it promises to redefine DePIN gaming and IoT applications.

Despite its innovation, Kage is entering an already competitive market. P2E games, particularly those on TON (The Open Network) blockchain, leveraging Telegram’s vast user base, pose a challenge. Several projects use Telegram’s accessibility to draw in players, offering gamified ways to earn crypto while emphasizing community engagement.

These games already enjoy commendable traction, which Chirp must contend with to secure its foothold. While Chirp has made a significant stride with Kage, its success will depend on the platform’s ability to sustain engagement, outpace competitors, and deliver value to its growing community.

Nonetheless, Chirp has ambitious plans to expand the Kage experience globally, starting with Europe and moving to other regions. Its treasure hunt and real-world mapping features position it uniquely, merging physical exploration with blockchain-based incentives.
