BNB Chain has shared a video on Twitter hinting at a Layer 2 solution. According to the video, detailed announcements are expected on June 19.
While BNB Coin and the Binance exchange are going through a challenging phase, the projects hinted at some new developments.
Speculation on BNB Chain Layer 2 Launch
On Thursday, the BNB Chain released a 17-second video on Twitter, teasing a Layer 2 solution. While many details are not yet shared, the announcement is expected on June 19.
The announcement has driven speculation within the community about the release. Some expect BNB to release its zero-knowledge proof solution similar to Ethereum zkEVM (zero-knowledge Ethereum Virtual Machine). While others are expecting an airdrop.
A Last Gasp?
In contrast, others are also skeptical about the launch. A Twitter user called this move a red flag and desperation by Changpeng Zhao (the CEO of Binance) to save the collapsing exchange. Another Twitter user wrote:
“I fear this may be the last gasp of the price of #bnb while under the sec scrutiny. Buy now if you feel like gambling, but definitely sell it all by June 19”
Earlier this month, after the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) sued Binance, the price of the BNB token plummeted to three-month lows. There is also fear of large liquidations below the $220 price range.
As of writing, the BNB token is trading at $232.99, down by about 5.78% in the past 24 hours.
Meanwhile, Binance Pool has launched a Bitcoin (BTC) transaction accelerator that will facilitate users to get quicker confirmation of their Bitcoin network transactions.
