Bitrue, a global cryptocurrency exchange, has launched Spot Strategy, a new feature that extends its Bitrue AI trading bot to the spot market. The feature offers AI-generated grid strategies for 15 crypto assets (including XRP, BTC, ETH, ZEC, and other crypto bluechips), each backtested and grouped into short-, medium- and long-term time horizons.
Until now, Bitrue AI strategies focused on futures trading. Spot Strategy gives users who prefer to trade without leverage access to the same AI analysis, applied to assets they hold directly rather than to derivatives contracts. Each available strategy, with its backtest data and AI analysis, can be reviewed on the Bitrue AI Spot Strategy page before it is started.
Why spot traders need a different kind of strategy
Much of the attention around AI trading bots has centered on futures, where leverage can turn small price moves into large gains or losses. Yet a large share of retail crypto activity still happens in the spot market, where users buy and hold the asset itself.
Spot traders face a different set of decisions. There is no liquidation price to watch, but there is still the question of when to buy, when to sell and how long to stay in a position while the market moves sideways.
Grid trading is one common answer to that question. A grid strategy places a series of buy and sell orders across a price range, buying as the price falls toward the lower end and selling as it rises toward the upper end. In a market that moves back and forth within a range, this can turn price swings into a series of smaller trades.
The difficulty lies in the setup. A trader has to choose which asset to trade, how wide the range should be and how long the strategy should run. A range set too narrow can be left behind by a breakout, while one set too wide may produce few trades at all. Spot Strategy is designed to take on that setup work.
How Spot Strategy works
Spot Strategy is available as a new tab on the Bitrue AI strategy page, next to the existing futures strategies. The system scans the market every 15 minutes and updates strategy parameters as conditions change.
At any given time, the feature presents strategies for 15 crypto assets selected by the AI based on current market conditions. The list covers large-cap assets such as BTC and ETH alongside other actively traded tokens, and it can change as market conditions shift.
Three time horizons
Each strategy is assigned to one of three holding periods, so users can match a strategy to how long they plan to stay in the market:
- Short term: strategies designed to run for 7 to 15 days.
- Medium term: strategies designed to run for one to two months.
- Long term: strategies designed to run for three to six months.
The same asset can appear in more than one horizon, with a different price range for each. A short-term strategy typically works with a narrower range around the current price, while a longer-term strategy allows for wider movement over time.
Backtested before it is shown
Every strategy on the page is backtested against 30 days of market data before it is presented. Each strategy card shows the trading pair, holding period, price range, minimum capital required and two backtest figures: the backtested grid APY and the minimum PnL.
The minimum PnL figure shows the weakest point the strategy reached during the backtest period. Placing it on the card alongside the APY gives users a sense of the drawdown a strategy has experienced, not only its best-case result.
The reasoning behind each strategy
Each card also includes a short AI analysis explaining why the strategy fits current conditions. The analysis draws on technical indicators such as the Average Directional Index (ADX), the Relative Strength Index (RSI), the KDJ indicator and Bollinger Bands.
For example, the analysis may note that a low ADX reading points to a market without a strong trend, while RSI and KDJ readings near oversold levels suggest room for a rebound. Conditions like these tend to suit grid trading, which relies on price moving back and forth within a range rather than in one direction.
How spot strategies differ from futures strategies
The main difference between Spot Strategy and Bitrue AI’s existing futures strategies is leverage. Futures strategies on Bitrue AI use leveraged positions, which magnify both gains and losses and carry the risk of liquidation if the market moves sharply against a position.
Spot strategies do not use leverage. The strategy buys and sells the asset itself within the chosen price range, so positions are not subject to liquidation. Losses are still possible, however: if the price falls below the range and stays there, the strategy will hold assets worth less than what was paid for them.
The capital required is also different. Minimum capital on Spot Strategy is set per strategy and, at the time of writing, ranged from about 13 USDT to 84 USDT depending on the trading pair. This allows users to start with a smaller amount and observe how a strategy behaves before committing more.
The two approaches can serve different purposes. Futures strategies may suit traders comfortable with leverage and short-term volatility, while spot strategies may suit users who want AI-assisted trading on assets they are prepared to hold.
Getting started with Spot Strategy
Users can start a spot strategy in a few steps:
- Open Bitrue AI, go to its strategy page and select the Spot Strategy tab.
- Choose a time horizon: 7 to 15 days, one to two months or three to six months.
- Review each strategy’s price range, minimum capital, backtest figures and AI analysis.
- Select a strategy and allocate capital, at or above the minimum shown.
- Track the running strategy from the Running Strategies view, where it can be stopped at any time.
Strategies can be activated without programming, server hosting or manual API key configuration. Users remain in control of which strategy they start and how much capital it uses.
“Many of our users trade spot and have no interest in leverage, but they still want help deciding where and how to place their orders,” said Ammy, Product Manager at Bitrue. “Spot Strategy brings the analysis behind Bitrue AI to those users, with time horizons and backtest data they can review before they start.”
Availability and risks
Spot Strategy is available now on the Bitrue AI strategy page. The assets, price ranges and parameters shown are updated as market conditions change, so the strategies on offer at any time may differ from those described here.
Grid strategies tend to perform best when prices move within a range. In a strong, sustained trend, a spot grid can end up fully invested in an asset that keeps falling, or fully in USDT while the price keeps rising. Backtest figures reflect past market data and do not guarantee future results.
Users should review each strategy’s price range, minimum PnL and AI analysis, confirm product availability in their region and consider their own risk tolerance before starting a strategy.
