Steve H. Hanke is a professor of Applied Economics at Johns Hopkins University. He served on President Ronald Reagan’s Council of Economic Advisers. From 1995 to 1996, Professor Hanke served as economic advisor to President Rafael Caldera and is currently a special advisor on economic, monetary, and energy affairs in the office of Congressman Antonio Ecarri in the National Assembly of Venezuela. His most recent book, co-edited with Francisco Zalles, is *Dollarization in Ecuador: The Triumph of Spontaneous Order * (2026).
