Andreas Antonopoulos believes that we can expect a new wave of cryptocurrency scams as the market rises. In fact, he claims his inbox has already been flooded with them.
We’re all happy to see the cryptocurrency market soar again. It’s been a long time coming. However, what we could do without is scams — but with the market rebounding, they’re sure to come. According to Andreas M. Antonopoulos, noted cryptocurrency commentator, they’re already bombarding his inbox.
Antonopoulus says he’s been getting “10-15 requests a day” from cryptocurrency-related influencer marketers. He said that the ICO, IEO, “influencer marketing,” and “advisor” emails are flooding his mailbox.
Although the scammers were nowhere to be found during the depths of the 2018 Crypto Winter, they’re now coming back in full force. The last wave of scammers came in full force between August and December 2017. Now, they’re looking at the current bull rally excitingly to suck more money out of unsuspecting victims — and they’ll likely invent new tactics to do so.
As FOMO (fear of missing out) hits once again, Antonopoulos says that, above all else, we need to be careful. Promises of profits are always suspect. Efforts to “recruit” members or “referrals” of any kind are, more often than not, simply pyramid schemes. Worst of all, he writes, “ICOs/IEOs are 99.99% pump-and-dump.” If you were in the cryptocurrency market in late 2017, you should be well aware of these scammers and are hopefully smart enough to avoid them. If you see any of your favorite “cryptocurrency influencers” start shilling certain coins unexpectedly, just keep in mind: they’re most definitely getting paid. The scams are coming — stay safe out there. Do you believe this market cycle will bring more scams than the 2017 market did? Let us know your thoughts below in the comments. It's been about a month since this new wave of scammers started up again.

Last time was August-December 2017.
The price dump in crypto made them go away and now they're back.
