Famed tiger handler and star of Netflix’s Tiger King Joe Exotic has announced the launch of his own cryptocurrency, called Tiger King (TKING)
Joe Exotic is best known for his hit television documentary Tiger King. The show aired in Netflix in 2020 and covered the story of Joe Exotic. Exotic was portrayed as an eccentric owner of the exotic animal park that housed dozens of wild tigers.
The 58 year old, formerly known as Joseph Allen Maldonado-Passage, has since been convicted hiring someone to murder Carole Baskin in Florida. Exotic was sentenced to 22 years in prison.
Tiger King Coin launch
Incarceration has not stopped Exotic from jumping on the crypto band-wagon. The former tiger breeder has announced the launch of his very own digital asset, called tiger king (TKING).
Exotic announced the launch of the project on Twitter, stating “My Official Tiger King coins will help me fix children’s smiles/faces, fight justice and prison reform, and save animals in the wild.”
The official website states that Joe Exotic will benefit from the TKING tokens by putting them towards paying for his “hefty legal bill in a bid to fight a corrupt legal system.” The website also states that Exotic will be using his tokens to fund cancer treatment.
TKING vs CAT Coin
The launch of TKING comes just weeks after Exotic’s biggest enemy on the show, Carole Baskin launched her own cryptocurrency. Baskin recently launched Cat coin (CAT). The project aims at funding wildlife conservation efforts at Big Cat Rescue.
When asked about why she started her own cryptocurrency, Baskin commented saying “I’m investigating cryptocurrencies because I am concerned about the volume of US dollars that are being printed and distributed with nothing to back them up.”
Both projects look set to launch their own non-fungible tokens (NFTs) in the future. TKING NFTs are expected to launch in June 2021 according to the website’s roadmap. TKING is currently trading on popular decentralized exchange Uniswap with $187,200 in trading volume over the last 24 hours.
