Google Stadia, Google’s new gaming platform, is about to see the addition of 120 more games in 2020, with further plans to improve the platform’s performance.
About two months ago, in November 2019, Google launched its new gaming platform, Google Stadia. The platform allows users to log in and play any of the listed games without needing powerful hardware on their own end. While such platforms are considered by many to be the future of online gaming, Google Stadia did not produce a particularly overwhelming reception.
The platform did not exactly fail — there were many who were quite excited about it, and it seems competent enough despite some issues that made themselves known post-launch. For example, early adopters complained about missing features, low-resolution visuals, a low selection of games, and particularly about lag. Now, Google plans to address as many of these issues as possible in 2020, including the low number of available games, as its new announcement says that the company will add 120 more games in the new year. Google also revealed that desktop users will be able to stream games in 4K over the next few months, although there are a lot of details that the platform failed to specify. Many among the platform’s users are wondering whether Google has plans to reduce lag and other of the reported problems, as this is an important part of FPS’s and similar games. Furthermore, those who bought the Stadia controller will be able to use its wireless connection for playing games via a desktop version of Chrome. As for the mobile version of Stadia, the project will soon start supporting additional Android phones. During the first few months, only Google’s Pixel phones had access to it, which is something that the company plans to change soon.
Finally, when it comes to the games themselves. around 10 new timed titles will arrive by mid-2020, So far, the platform’s reception was mild, at best, and any improvements are likely to help with making this ambitious project more attractive to gamers around the world.
