Google has published the list of top searches in 2019, a usual occurrence from the search giant. Following past trends, the hottest topics were usually terms that had the most impact in various fields, although a surprising pattern has occurred.

Running Down the Best Performance

The most dominant search on Google in 2019 was Disney+. The streaming service is entering into a rather crowded industry that has been dominated by the likes of Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon Prime. But, it’s gotten popular with consumers. The reason why Disney+ is so popular is simple. Disney owns the service and it’s arguably one of the biggest names in movies and TV entertainment. The streaming service also boasts a comparatively low subscription package to industry leader Netflix. Also, there are other freebies like 4K streaming), which Netflix users pay for.’ The top 10 popular individuals included names such as Cameron Boyce (#2), the former Disney star who died from epilepsy in his sleep. Nipsey Hussle (#3), the rapper and songwriter who was fatally shot in March. Antonio Brown (#5), the NFL wide receiver who caused a stir after having public spats with several of his franchises, and Jussie Smollett (#10), the ‘Empire’ actor who was accused of staging a hate crime to bolster his career. Other entertaining elements made the top 10 as well, such as Avengers: Endgame (#7), the fitting end to Marvel’s Avengers franchise, which also became the highest-grossing movie of all time. Game of Thrones (#8), arguably the most popular TV series ever, and the iPhone 11 (#9). Also, Baby Shark and Baby Yoda – both internet meme sensations – trounced the Royal Baby Archie Harrison under the ‘baby’ categories. It would seem that people all over the world love a good laugh more than whatever’s going on at Buckingham Palace.

Time Plays Less of a Factor in Search Intensity

Although the list seems pretty well-rounded, it is worth noting that some of the terms are relatively new. Disney+ was rolled out. While news about Disney+ had been made public since the beginning of the year at least, the service itself has been active for a little over a month now Disney+ Google Although considering that it’s Disney, this becomes less surprising. The company has had a way with people, and its marketing has always been slick. The same marketing acumen was what led to the trailer for Avengers: Endgame becoming the most-watched trailer of all time within 24 hours (with 289 million views at the time) We can see Baby Yoda in a similar light. The character first appeared in an episode of the Mandalorian. The cuddlier, younger version of the ancient Jedi master, made his debut last month.
