According to Rogers’ recent announcement, the 5G network is about to arrive in downtown areas of some of Canada’s largest cities.
A new announcement by Rogers revealed that the rollout of the 5G network is about to start in Canada’s largest cities. For now, 5G should first become available in downtown Montreal, Toronto, Vancouver, and Ottawa. However, there are also plans to expand the so-called Rogers 5G network to more than 20 additional markets before the year ends.

The Future Forum

The company further revealed that it has become an exclusive member of the global 5G Future Forum. This is a unique 5G and mobile edge computing forum which includes several other major companies, such as America Movil, Verizon, KT, Vodafone, and Telstra. The company’s President and CEO, Joe Natale, stated that 5G is the biggest technological evolution since Canada went wireless. Rogers Communications is making the right investment, and building the right partnerships by deploying this technology. The company’s goal is to bring the very best that 5G has to offer to Canada, as it will be more than a power business — it will fuel entire industries, according to Natale. He added that 5G will drive the country’s digital future and that Canada was the first with wireless service — now it will also be among the first to bring the services, as the new, innovative technology. 5G

5G Will Help Transform Businesses and Industries

Initially, Rogers 5G network will use a 2.5 GHz spectrum, although it plans to switch to a 600 MHz spectrum later in 2020. Apart from the four major cities, this upgraded network will also be available in several chosen locations, including Rogers Arena, Rogers Centre, and Scotiabank Arena. As many already know, 5G will bring new capabilities, which will be much more advanced than what old generations of wireless technology had to offer. It is expected to transform businesses and industries, bring greater speed and capacity, improve battery life, and more, all over the course of the next few years. Rogers in the last 35 years, Rogers invested $9 billion in spectrum licenses, as well as over $30 billion in wireless networks, which allowed Canada to have the third-fastest wireless network in the world. Now, they are bringing 5G, which is not ‘just another G,’ according to Rogers’ CTO, Jorge Fernandes, but a global tech that requires local development in order to deliver the best economic and social benefits to Canada.
