Apple users still working with the iPhone 6 or 6s models may be eligible for a free repair due to an error that’s entirely the company’s fault.
According to a blog post from the company, some users with these older devices may suddenly find that they’ve stopped turning on. Apparently, that issue is due to a component failure that only exists in a certain amount of iPhone 6 models.
The affected models were made at any time between October 2018 to August 2019. Those who believe their device has experienced a device failure can enter their serial number on Apple’s website to check for sure. If so, they’re entitled to a free repair at an Apple Store or through the other provided repair methods.
However, it’s worth noting that they won’t just repair any damaged iPhone 6 or 6s. Those that have severely damaged their phone, such as a destroyed screen or something else, will still have to pay upfront for some fixes. Also, there won’t be an upgrade plan to a newer phone model, either.
Recently, those with newer Apple devices can enjoy the new iOS 13, which has a big focus on privacy and security – something users have been asking for a long while, considering that information is essentially the same as currency nowadays, as BeInCrypto has previously reported.
This new iteration of iOS informs users on if an application is tracking their location, where it has been tracking, and even gives them the option to limit this tracking or to keep it on all the time.
Before this update, applications could track users as they see fit, as long as they agreed to the initial requirements upon launch.
What do you think about this iPhone 6 repair program? Is this a good move by Apple, or should users be getting ready to upgrade by this point? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
