An announcement made by AMD brought some unfortunate news regarding its soon-to-arrive 16-core Ryzen 9 processor. The company had to delay the processor’s launch until November of this year, meaning that the wait continues.
AMD made major success earlier this year when it launched its 7nm Ryzen CPU back in July. However, the manufacturer also promised that another high-end chip would be released before the year ends. It announced the Ryzen 9 3950X — a 16-core CPU, with a base clock of 3.5GHz, and a potential boost to 4.7GHz, AMD Ryzen However, in a shocking announcement that the company has made late on Friday, it would appear that the new CPU will be late. AMD had to delay its launch until November of this year, which likely has numerous fans of its products quite disappointed. AMD also shared the reason for the delay, stating that the demand was too great and that it is quite supply-constrained. While this clearly indicates that many tech-lovers are excited about the new processor, it also means that AMD did not prepare a big enough supply to handle the demand. In the end, the only remaining choice was to delay it by two months in hopes that it will be enough for increasing the supply. Another important thing that AMD has revealed recently is that its Third Generation Threadripper will be arriving in November as well, meaning that the two will come at the same time. Now, AMD was not willing to spoil the surprise by announcing everything there is to know about these components, but it is likely that the abundance of cores and various improvements are to be expected. Threadripper’s clock targets are also unknown at this time, although it is likely that it will be improved as well. AMD After all, AMD is aiming high, and it set a pretty aggressive target in its attempts to one-up Intel and establish dominance while cementing its own reputation in the industry once and for all.
