Job Summary
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
šNike Virtual Studios is looking for a 3D Designer to join us for a summer internship to create new extended reality experiences for our virtual product creations. Youāll work in close collaboration with our Virtual Product and Immersive Experience Design team and partners to deliver the best 3D and extended reality experiences for our community. Ideal candidates for this role will have an understanding and interest in 3D design concepts as well as an ability to generate high-impact ideas, working models, and customer-facing deliverables.
šGraduation date of Winter 2026 or Spring 2027
šMust be able to present a portfolio showcasing your class projects, independent work and experiments in the 2D, 3D, and XR design space
šSolid understanding of 3D rigging and animation design
šArtistic and technical knowledge/experience with real-time engines (Unreal, Unity)
šExperience with 3D software with strong modeling, shading, and sculpting skills (Blender, Maya, ZBrush, Adobe CS)
šAbility to understand color, visual compositions and lighting
šA self-starter, collaborator, and team player
šA passion for sport, gaming, culture and creative storytelling; with the ambition to use it to change how we live our lives
šPassion for current trends in social channels, virtual platforms, emerging technology, design, art, gaming, interactive and experience design
šPassion for learning new tools/techniques and open to exchanging knowledge
šStrong interpersonal skills and ability to cultivate cross-functional relationships
WHAT YOUāLL EXPERIENCE:
šThe 3D Designer intern position is responsible for collaborating with our design team and partners to generate virtual models, renderings and animations for our digital product creations. Key responsibilities include:
šCreate 3D assets for extended reality experiences using 3D / XR software such as Unreal Engine, Unity, Blender, and Spark
šDesign digital models based on design concepts, sketches, and scanned data
šCreate simple character and product rigs
šCollaborate on creative ideation sessions for 3D and XR related projects as well as new forms of design and interaction expression
šDevelop and prototype creative concepts with the Design team
šSupport the research of new design tools and technologies
