TV actress and NFT pioneer, Reese Witherspoon announced that her production company, Hello Sunshine partnered with NFT collective World of Women (WoW) to bring its character universe into the entertainment industry.

The partnership will allow Hello Sunshine to expand the WoW universe into various types of intellectual property, ranging from feature films and TV, to non-linear scripted and unscripted TV series, according to Variety.

World of Women launched back in July 2021 with 10,000 original works produced by women creators, quickly becoming one of the leaders in the NFT space.

This partnership demonstrates another powerful move forward in the longevity and utility NFTs bring to the entertainment landscape as discussions surrounding intellectual property continue to take place.

“While the crypto and NFT space is largely dominated by men, there are inspiring leaders like World of Women creating incredible communities for women during this massive shift for media and technology,” Witherspoon told Variety.

“We’re proud to partner with WoW to expand their universe of characters and to develop innovative scripted and unscripted content. We look forward to engaging with the remarkable WoW community at every step of this partnership and creating opportunities for WoW holders to work collaboratively with Hello Sunshine on transforming the WoW art into powerful stories.”

Witherspoon, whose been an active voice in the community, has utilized her social media platforms, specifically on Twitter Spaces to help vocalize the significance of female-led projects, as well as the possibilities of the metaverse.

Earlier this month, Coinbase NFT took to Twitter for its #BUIDLCrypto Space, featuring Witherspoon, Lisa Mayer (Boss Beauties), Betty (Deadfellaz), Nyla Hayes (Long Neckie Ladies) – hosted by Clubhouse and Web3 icon, Nicole Behnam.

Behnam, the founder of Beyond Media, has helped orchestrate and serve as a powerful voice for women in Web3 and crypto, advocating for community, integrity, and inclusion in the space.

Both WoW and Hello Sunshine have a mutual interest in promoting works by female artists and authors, with WoW bringing on industry legend Guy Oseary, whose clients also include Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC), Madonna, and U2.

“Hello Sunshine has been changing the narrative for women in Hollywood and we know they can play an instrumental role in shaping the narrative for women in the NFT space,” said Yam Karkai, co-founder and artist for World of Women. “As an artist, this is new territory for me, and I could not have envisioned a better partner to expand the ethos core values of our beautiful community through storytelling in new and innovative ways.”

Eventually, WoW and Hello Sunshine intend to launch a collaborative live event with other diverse women-led NFT projects to help educate women about Web3.
