Who We Are: Ethena Labs is building the first ETH based yield-bearing synthetic dollar. Arthur Hayes is a founding advisor and the team has deep experience across traditional finance and crypto engineering from firms such as Cerberus, Wintermute, Flow Traders, Deribit, Paradigm, Aave, Blockdaemon and Kaiko. We are backed by every major exchange and trading entities in the space. What we are Doing: We are building derivative infrastructure to enable Ethereum to transform into the Internet Bond via delta-neutral derivatives positions, to create the first crypto-native, yield bearing synthetic dollar: sUSDe. We believe creating a synthetic dollar which is not reliant on existing banking infrastructure is the single most important problem to solve and largest opportunity in crypto today. USDe will form the first part of a broader ecosystem of products we are building including fixed and floating rate internet bonds and composable repo leveraged markets.
Job Summary
What You'll Do
šArchitect and deliver core DeFi protocols: including staking, stablecoin integrations, and liquidity systems, ensuring deployments are secure, gas-efficient, and aligned with product roadmaps šLead cross-chain infrastructure development in bridging, messaging, LayerZero/LZCompose, and paymasters to ensure seamless UX with high reliability across supported chains šPartner with Security Engineering to design and deliver modern, robust multisig/on-chain monitoring and tooling solutions šEnforce robust security practices by implementing audits, fuzzing, invariant testing, and incident playbooks with 100% patching of high-severity issues within industry timelines šCollaborate with Trading & Risk Engineering to integrate market data, liquidity signals, and execution systems into DeFi flows, enabling safe automation of critical operations šOwn end-to-end lifecycle of DeFi products from whitepaper/spec to contract implementation, deployment, monitoring, and upgrades while maintaining 99.9% uptime for critical contracts šDrive innovation in stablecoin infrastructure by delivering new products in partnership with external stakeholders šMentor junior and senior engineers, raising the team's DeFi depth and execution velocity while documenting learnings and establishing reusable frameworks
What We're Looking For
šDeFi Protocol Expertise: Deep knowledge of smart contract patterns, staking, AMMs, stablecoins, bridges, governance, and liquidation mechanics šEVM Smart Contract Development: Proficiency in Solidity and EVM patterns with experience in advanced tools (Foundry, Tenderly, Slither, Echidna) šSolana Smart Contract Development: Proficiency in Rust and Solana patterns with experience in advanced tools (Foundry, Tenderly, Slither, Echidna) šSystem Design & Architecture: Ability to design scalable, gas-efficient, and upgradeable DeFi systems that balance modularity with reliability šSecurity-First Engineering: Experience anticipating vulnerabilities and applying formal verification, audits, fuzzing, and invariant testing šCross-Chain Infrastructure: Practical experience with messaging protocols (LayerZero, Axelar, native bridges), paymasters, and multi-chain state sync
