BD Director, Payments

Full-time
Remote, Brazil

About the company

Polygon Labs develops Ethereum scaling solutions for Polygon protocols. Polygon Labs engages with other ecosystem developers to help make available scalable, affordable, secure and sustainable blockchain infrastructure for Web3. Polygon Labs has initially developed a growing suite of protocols for developers to gain easy access to major scaling solutions, including layer 2s (zero-knowledge rollups and optimistic rollups), sidechains, hybrid chains, app-specific chains, enterprise chains, and data availability protocols. Scaling solutions that Polygon Labs initially developed have seen widespread adoption with tens of thousands of decentralized apps, unique addresses exceeding 225 million, over 1.2 million smart contracts created and 2.56 billion total transactions processed since inception. The existing Polygon network is home for some of the biggest Web3 projects, such as Aave, Uniswap, and OpenSea, and well-known enterprises, including Robinhood, Stripe and Adobe. Polygon Labs is carbon neutral with the goal of leading Web3 in becoming carbon negative.

Job Summary

About the role:

As BD Director, Payments (Brazil), you will play a critical role in scaling Polygon Labs' onchain payments business across one of the most important global corridors. This is not a traditional sales role—you will act as a trusted advisor to leading financial institutions, fintechs, and payment service providers, helping them navigate and adopt onchain financial infrastructure.

You will combine deep payments expertise with a strong commercial mindset to unlock new volume across Polygon Labs' payments infrastructure, particularly across Brazil–US corridors. Working closely with product, partnerships, and leadership, you will help translate an evolving product suite into real-world adoption, shaping both go-to-market strategy and execution.

This role is ideal for someone coming from traditional payments or fintech who wants to be at the forefront of stablecoins and onchain finance, and who can credibly engage senior stakeholders while driving measurable business outcomes.

Responsibilities:

📍Drive adoption and volume across Polygon Labs' payments infrastructure, with a focus on Brazil-based institutions and cross-border corridors (especially Brazil–US) 📍Identify, prioritize, and engage high-impact institutions including banks, fintechs, PSPs, and remittance providers 📍Act as a trusted advisor to partners by translating Polygon Labs' product suite into clear, relevant payments use cases 📍Structure and execute commercial opportunities from early-stage engagement through to signed agreements and scaled usage 📍Collaborate with internal teams (product, engineering, legal, marketing, finance) to deliver successful integrations and partner outcomes 📍Co-develop and execute go-to-market strategies with key ecosystem participants to accelerate adoption 📍Provide market intelligence and strategic input on where Polygon Labs should focus across partners, corridors, and use cases 📍Support selection and optimisation of local ramp infrastructure and partners in Brazil 📍Build and maintain high-quality materials (presentations, case studies, business cases) to support partner engagement and internal alignment 📍Maintain operational rigor through CRM management, pipeline tracking, and performance reporting

Requirements:

📍6+ years of experience in payments, fintech, or financial services, with exposure to cross-border payments or remittances 📍Strong network within Brazil's financial ecosystem (banks, fintechs, PSPs, or card networks) 📍Proven ability to originate and close complex B2B or institutional deals 📍Solid understanding of payments infrastructure, with working knowledge or strong interest in stablecoins and onchain finance 📍Ability to engage and influence senior stakeholders through both commercial and advisory conversations 📍Fluency in Portuguese and English

Nice-to-have: 📍Experience working at leading fintechs, payment networks, or financial institutions (e.g., card networks, digital banks, remittance providers) 📍Exposure to stablecoins, blockchain, or digital asset initiatives within a traditional financial environment 📍Understanding of FX flows, capital controls, and emerging market payment dynamics 📍Experience supporting go-to-market strategy, product positioning, or pricing in payments 📍Spanish language proficiency
